Hi Everyone!
Well today is my 41st birthday (thanks Sandra, Judy and Matt for your messages! This post got posted early by mistake..don't ask).
And it is also the day we open our Sealed Pots!
And it is also the day we open our Sealed Pots!
So here goes....how much do we have towards Cornwall 2012?
(Mr Sft has been sneaking into the pot to exchange coins for
notes-for paying tolls on the roads).
3 x £20 notes
4 x £10 notes
6 x £1 coins
4 x 50ps
51 x 20ps
55 x 10ps
SO OUR GRAND TOTAL FOR CORNWALL 2012 IS £118.70!
Our Youth Hostel accommodation cost £143 for 7 nights
so we were only £25 short.
What a result! We are delighted!
What about you???????????
Sft x

Happy Birthday!! My pot had £92.60 enough for my lovely preserving pan. Now to find a pot for the new challenge!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is going to be one beautiful preserving pan Fran! What a rhyme!
DeleteYes, do get your new pot ready for tomorrow's start.
Thanks for your birthday wishes.
Sft x
Happy Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteMy pot had £176.25 enough for my christmas shopping and deposit on holiday next year I am so pleased.
That is an incredible result WP!
DeleteA double delight! No wonder you are pleased.
Where are you off to on holiday?
Sft x
Thanks Sft
DeleteWe are going to try a 5 day coach holiday to the Pennines with 2 steam train journey and a few trips(mr WP is Disabled and long journey in car not an option so this seems a good way of holidaying)
WP x
Oh, I love the Pennines. And Steam Trains are so magical aren't they. This sounds like a wonderful option for you both.
DeleteMum and I might be going on holiday to Scotland next Spring, coach all the way up and back.
Sft x
Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteWe had £56.62 enough for our anniversary meal out, which is booked for Saturday! Yay!
Have a lovely day xx
That is great Laura! I really hope you enjoy your anniversary treat.
DeleteThanks for your birthday wishes.
Sft x
Happy Birthday Lady!
ReplyDeleteMy pot was opened early and I had about £75 combined which went towards clearing my overdraft. I have 3 pots this year and they're all sealed so Mr M can't sneak into them!
Have a lovely day
:-)
M and M!
DeleteThanks for your birthday wishes.
£75 is a great amount and well done for using it on your overdraft. That's admirable.
3 pots-wow! We had 2. And only Mr Sft is trusted to sneak into them when he 'needs' change. But he has to seal them up again, each time when he does.
Sft x
Happy birthday SFT.
ReplyDeletehope you have a great day! Well done on your sealed pot! Thank-you for the experience, I can't wait for next years!
Vicky
DeleteThanks for your birthday wishes! and Sealed Pot wishes :)
I'm looking forward to starting again tomorrow.
Sft x
Hi Sft hope you had a lovely birthday! My pot had $246.50, I have paid $120 for tix to a show in February, put money aside for our anniversary dinner and put the balance in to start my new pot. Very pleased with that. Such a great but simple idea. Thank you Judy xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for your birthday wishes.
DeleteYou did brilliantly with your pot Judy- $246.50 is a great amount.
Which show have you chosen?
So glad you're having that special anniversary dinner.
And you've already made a fantastic start to your new pot too.
You have scored 10 out of 10!
Sft x
Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteSft x
Happy birthday, hope your parcel arrived ok.
ReplyDeleteI opened my pot last week £26.55 miserable, there would have been more except I plundered the pot when we were fitting out the caravan other wise there would have been double that and some!!
Hope you have a good day today, will try and do better with the sealed pot next year, need to find something I cannot get into so easily.
Hi A.
DeleteI do have a lovely parcel to open after my birthday dinner tonight!
I am soooooo excited, how kind of you.
I think £26.55 is excellent considering it was plundered for your caravan.
What are you going to spend it on?
I have had a nice day, reading school reports for my department.
Good luck for starting a new sealed pot challenge tomorrow!
Will email you later when I have opened my parcel.
Sft x
Happy birthday SFT.
ReplyDeleteThanks Poppy!!!!!!!! Sft x
DeleteHappy birthday, and congrats on the sealed pot!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bryallen! I am thrilled with my sealed pot amount.
DeleteSft x
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteWell done on the contents of your Sealed Pot. You have almost managed to pay for the trip to Cornwall, an excellent result and so handy that Mr Sft could dip into it for his toll charges, although he is slightly naughty :-)
Our pot was opened yesterday, I've just Blogged about it, we're both so pleased with the result and now we can properly plan the big Challenge for next year.

Sue xx
Happy birthday. I opened my pot and had $96.90 in there, which wasn't too bad, as I didn't start until January. THe money is going back into the pot until next December, as I don't have plans on what I want to do with the money, so it will sit there and hopefully I will have enough for a weekend away in 2014.
ReplyDeleteGill in Canada
That is a brilliant amount Gill! Congrats!
DeleteI think you have made a great decision ploughing the money into the new pot, that weekend away in 2014 will be extra special.
Thanks for your birthday wishes.
Sft x
Happy birthday. Well done on the amount saved, it just shows how small amounts of money saved on a regular basis can add up and pay for something worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your birthday wishes Jo!
DeleteYes, those little bits of change really do add up.
They have really paid for 6 of the 7 nights accomodation.
Sft x
We broke into our pot early, as we were at a family wedding at the weekend. We decided to use it towards that. £60 which paid for two night accommodation in a family room, travel lodge deal. So very happy with that. :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, that is a great way to use your savings Gilibob! I hope you had a lovely time.
DeleteMeant to ask you about that walk you recommended near Helston. Am thinking about how to spend our time in Cornwall. Do let me know if you read this.
Sft x
Ooh yes, i will google map the area for you and figure out how to send a link. I also forgot to put Happy Birthday before. xx
DeleteJust found this and you can add extra on if you fancy making it harder or just take it easy. Either way stunning views and scenery is so varied.
Deletehttp://www.theaa.com/walks/from-helston-to-porthleven-by-loe-bar-420183
THANK YOU SO MUCH GILIBOB! This is definitely on the list for Cornwall.
DeleteWe really appreciate it.
Sft x
I have a small change purse in my handbag and I periodically (weekly, on a Sunday night ) place all the contents in a special sealed pot, leaving just a £1 , 50p, 2 x 20p and a 10 p coin in the purse.
ReplyDeleteDoing this I saved £234.55 in 2012. I am so pleased - but not quite sure what to do with it all as I did not have a particular goal in mind, I just wanted to save some cash!
Happy Birthday :-)
Thanks for your birthday wishes Compostwoman!
DeleteI really like the idea of a small change purse, just brilliant and that is a heck of a lot of money to save in a year. Wow!
Sft x
Sending you the happiest Birthday wishes today dear...................may this be your best year ever. Hope you take a little of that special savings and do something fun today to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteHugs and many happy returns.
Love, Mary
P.S. When will you be off to Cornwall?
Thanks for your birthday wishes Mary! I like the idea of the best year ever!
DeleteWe are using the money to pay for our trip to Cornwall.
We are off to Cornwall on the 26th December.
Sft x
Hi! I've popped over via Our New Life in the Country. Firstly - Happy Birthday!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI wonder - the sealed pot challenge, is is all change, just certain coins or your own choice? Any rules I should be aware of? I'd like to take part. In the UK in Exeter though I'm from Dorset originally. Great idea, I'll have to think of a goal for it!
Thanks for your birthday wishes Ruthdigs!
DeleteNo rules for the sealed pot challenge-any change at all! I'll add you to the new list.
And do let me know of your goal, that's a great motivator for us all.
Sft x
Many, many happy returns of the day - I hope you are having a lovely day, and congratulations on your sealed pot total. Have a wonderful time in Cornwall xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for your birthday wishes Morgan!
DeleteI am really enjoying my birthday evening with Mr Sft (been at school today).
We are thrilled with our sealed pot total.
Will be working even harder on it next year.
We are really looking forward to Cornwall-23 days and counting.
Sft x
Happy Birthday Mrs. SFT! Congratulations on your sealed pot total. Have fun in Cornwall! I enjoy your blog - thank you for posting!
ReplyDeleteHi Michele,
DeleteThanks for your birthday wishes!
We can't wait for Cornwall.
I've been a bit quiet my blog recently. I think it's to do with giving up chocolate and also reassessing my future goals.
Sft x
Fabulous everyone! Happy Birthday Sft! Are we doing show and tell with our new pots tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteJane x
Thanks for your birthday wishes Jane!
DeleteYes, lets do Show and Tell tomorrow. What a great idea.
Sft x
Happy Birthday. I tried to join your saving challenge last year but couldn't figure out how. We started around July time (I think) and opened it this morning £126, plus we emptied another mini one and had £5 in 5p pieces in there so a grand total of £131. Not sure what to spend it on yet but it will come in handy. We shall now start again, so please add me to your list.
ReplyDeleteWow! £126 from half a year is a great result! There aren't any rules to the challenge-just chuck any change into the pot, make sure its sealed and don't open it.
DeleteI'll add you to the new list. Let me know if you have a goal and I'll add that too.
Sft x
Happy Birthday. £69.90 in our sealed pot. Will cover the festive spending.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great result, and so nice you are spending it on festivities.
DeleteSft x
Hope you are having a very Happy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteWe opened our sealed pot early, yesterday while Lovely Hubby was home and I blogged all about it today and woohoo we had 480 pounds (there's no pound sign on Lovely Hubby's laptop!!), we are very pleased with our total and over on the Blog is just what we are going to do with it.
Have a great day.
Sue xx
Happy Birthday , I am not far beind you as mine is next week lol x Well done on the sealed pot. I have yet to open ours but I know for a fact it has no notes mainly coppers
ReplyDeleteAnother Sagittarius! That's lovely to know and I hope you also have a great birthday.
DeleteHope those coppers add up.
Sft x
Happy birthday! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Nic!
DeleteSft x
Hi SFT
ReplyDeleteHaven't been blogging much but I have been reading & kept up with my sealed pot which I opened today & there was £149.50. We have decided to use it to reduce Davids Tax bill which will knock 3 months off the repayment schedule, which is more important to use than a trip to the theatre, we which was what we intended to do with it.
Oh Kim I am thrilled with your sealed pot total. That is amazing!
DeleteI think you have spent it wisely.
Lovely to hear from you.
Sft x
First - happy birthday!!! I am only joining the sealed pot challenge for the first time but the pot is ready to go and has a few coins in it already.
ReplyDeleteYeah! Welcome on board CC! I know you are going to do great.
DeleteWill be getting my new pot ready too.
Thanks for your birthday wishes.
Sft x
Happy Birthday by the way
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim!
DeleteSft x
Happy Birthday Mrs Sft!!!
ReplyDeleteI only found your blog a little while ago so this will be our first year - to update on our paper mache pig he has been christened Jo and is already quite heavy :-)
As well as change the kids get fined 5p every time they leave the hall door open - they havent put any in for 2 weeks !!
Well done on the amount in yours! hope you have a fabulous trip in cornwall !
Kay xx
Thanks for your birthday wishes Kay!
DeleteI love your pig, I've seen it on your profile.
Sounds like you've made a great start.
We can't wait for Cornwall.
Sft x
I keep leaving comments and they keep vanishing, lets see if this one stays!!
ReplyDeleteOur pot was opened yesterday and contained the brilliant total of 480 pouns (no pound sign on my laptop!!).
It's a good job it's a decent amount that's my housekeeping money for next year....the whole of next year!
Happy Birthday.
Sue xx
Just moved this comment out of spam. Don't know why it was there.
DeleteI still can't believe your total.
That's what we've got to work towards if we are going to get to Europe next year.
I am so looking forward to your housekeeping challenge.
Sft x
Happy Birthday and Congratulation to everyone who has opened their sealed pot. I am a bit tempted to open my pot but will hold on until next year.
ReplyDeleteI bet it is tempting but you are doing the right thing hanging on for next year.
DeleteThanks for your birthday wishes.
Sft x
Brilliant result Sft, I hope you have a great trip. This is my first year in the sealed pot challenge. I've got my pot ready and we are raring to go!
ReplyDeleteWe are really looking forward to it.
DeleteAnd good luck for the challenge!
Sft x
Happy Birthday sft ! I haven't opened my sealed pot as I know there isn't much in it. I'm going to keep going with it, and add it to the amount in my virtual sealed pot next December. My virtual sealed pot is coming along nicely - I've just had a bumper weekend on ebay thanks to my lovely Mum who gave me lots of wonderful things to list, and 20% of the total has gone into it.
ReplyDeleteHi Scarlet
DeleteThanks for your birthday wishes.
Sounds like your virtual sealed pot is filling up nicely. Congrats on all your ebay sales, what a great mum you have.
Sft x
Happy Birthday:-)
ReplyDeleteI'm sooo happy with our results: 228,38 pounds. We'll spend it all next Saturday when we go Christmas shopping.
Thank you so much for thinking of this challenge, it's been great fun:-)
Hi Rikke,
DeleteThank you for your birthday wishes.
Congratulations on your sealed pot total. I hope your Christmas shopping goes well.
Glad you're enjoying the challenge.
Sft x
Have just counted mine & was pleasantly surprised to find $170.90, then I converted it to GBP & lets just say it sounds much better in NZD! 87.12 GBP does not sound like much at all LOL, although I know it is quite a lot over there! Sx
ReplyDeleteOh, that sounds a lot to me Sandra! You've done so well.
DeleteYou never did tell me what you were spending your cash on????
Sft x
Well done on such a fantastic amount to save:0) That's great going and will go a long way to helping pay for the youth hostel.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, hope you have had a lovely birthday and enjoyed your birthday tea.xx
I haven't opened my sealed pot as it is 10pm and have only just got in from work, so it will have to wait!
We are thrilled at the amount. It's paid for 6 days of accommodation.
DeleteThank you for your birthday wishes too.
Looking forward to hearing about your sealed pot.
Sft x
Happy Birthday Sft - hope you've had a nice day!
ReplyDeleteWell done on your money saving & looking forward to joining in tomorrow!
K&S :)
I did have a lovely birthday, thank you.
DeleteNow we've got hunt high and low and find those coins.
Sft x
Hello from WI, USA, and a very happy birthday to you as well! Hope your day was super-duper special! I left a comment and intent to save along with the SFT gang back in November, the post from the 4th I think, but I see that you haven't found me as yet. Please do add me, as I'm very excited to be doing this with all of you. :-) I emptied my tin from this past year, definitely not sealed and used to help with son's laundry. It did contain $49.23 however, and I was happy with that. I plan on doing much better until the next "open" date! Hugs and thanks for hosting this, Finn
ReplyDeleteHi Finn,
DeleteThanks for your birthday wishes. So kind. I did have a lovely day and I'm going to add you to the list straight away!
You sound sooooo motivated.
Sft x
Happy birthday. I hope you have the best year ever,
ReplyDeleteWhen I found our pot open I was cross and my daughter had only left about $20 in coins. i know there were notes int here. This was immediately used to pay for some of her sins of late. As you can tell the girl is being a trial right now but with more hard work we shall get through it.
Hide that new pot Suze!
DeleteThanks for your birthday wishes.
Sft x
I know it is late, however, Happy Belated Birthday, I hope you had a fantastic day.
ReplyDeleteI will be opening my sealed pot tomorrow, Dec 4th and will let you know how much is in it. I was going to use the money for Christmas, but have decided to return it to the sealed pot and add to it during 2013.
Patricia
Thanks for your birthday wishes.
DeleteLooking forward to hearing how much money is in your sealed pot.
Sft x
I hope you had a wonderful birthday. I'm so sorry my comment from yesterday didn't get through.
ReplyDeleteIt was something along the lines of -
We opened our sealed pot on Sunday and there was the grand total of £480, it's a good job there was that much, it's our housekeeping budget for all of 2013. NOW there's a Challenge for me!!
There, I'm happy now I've got this comment done on the old computer.....but brrrr it's freezing in this office so off I go.
Sue xx
You did so well with your sealed pot total and I love that it's going to be used for the housekeeping in 2013-if someone can do it, it will be you.
DeleteHope you warm up nicely.
Sft x
I have just been to the shop with all the coins from the saving pots, it has been great fun and the boys have all joined in with all the small change. It has gone well and we are all surprised how much we have saved.
ReplyDeletewe have enough money for a few nights at a B&B when we visit Wales this year.
That's wonderful Cathy! You must be so proud of your boys. It is amazing how much can be saved.
DeleteSo glad you are spending it on a nice family trip in Wales.
Sft x
A belated happy birthday first of all!
ReplyDeleteWell I think mine's by far the smallest amount - just €9.15 - but I don't mind because I just started my pot three weeks ago. It's perfect for a couple of essential oils, which I'm looking forward to getting tomorrow. I don't have the patience to let it roll over into next year's pot! When it comes to goal realization, i'm a quick-fix kind of gal ;) But it was fun! I'm really impressed by how much you all have saved in a year! that is really amazing- congratulations to everyone!
Thanks!
DeleteI think you did really well, since you've only just started your pot.
Those essential oils sound lovely.
Sft x
Happy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteI found $743 in my pot, which amazed me. I have now reduced my monthly budget, so this year's pot will be smaller.
That's amazing Marjorie! Wow! You must be thrilled.
DeleteGlad you're joining this year's challenge too.
Sft x
I opened mine and see what I found?
ReplyDeletehttp://eboolifejourney.blogspot.ca/2012/12/sealed-pot-challenge.html
What fun it was opening, sorting, and counting it all! I've already started putting in coins for next year. :)
Excellent! $200 is a great amount.
DeleteGlad you found it fun. And are eager to save for this year.
Sft x
Gosh I'm straggling way behind here! My internet a/c has 218 pounds but I knew how much I had because I have been watching it grow slowly - but I didn't dip into it ever and it is all going towards our trip to London soon - a lovely meal out and some treats. I did enjoy being part of the Sealed Pot Challenge - congratulations to everyone who has done so well.
ReplyDeleteThat's a tidy sum Betty!
DeleteYour London trip will be very special.
Glad you enjoyed taking part and am glad you are saving for next year too.
Sft x
